Light Railway Locomotive at Welshpool Station

This is the fourth vintage travel style illustrations I’ve made for the Llanfair and Welshpool Light Railway in the past few years.

This shows their locomotive “The Earl” (822) in its beautiful green GWR livery waiting at the Welshpool Station by the Raven Roundabout.

The client wanted to include the distinctive water tower and also incorporate some classic vintage cars from the rallies they host.

As usual the challenge was to make one illustration that could be cropped to use in several formats. I designed this to work the front of a tall DL size leaflet in portrait, but also on A-size posters and in advertising as a landscape image. You can see how that works in the images below.

The illustration is in vector so it’s quite light-weight (less than 600k) for using in downloadable PDFs – and can be enlarged to any size without loss of clarity.
