The client wanted to keep the same feel of the existing coat of arms for the pub, but have it redrawn in a simpler form.
I’ve hand-drawn the elements and introduced hatching for the shadows which keeps the character of the original but with a cleaner look. This vector version can be used in a wide variety of media keeping a crisp and clear line.
An interesting aspect of the original design was that the hound on the left was drawn to look older than the one on the right – with shaggier legs and face. I like to think maybe the when the arms were last drawn the owner may have had an old dog and a younger one. I’ve tried to keep that subtle difference.
