Not to blow my own trumpet or anything, but I do love sketching, drawing and designing and I’m available freelance I can help you out with any illustration work, maps, infographics, web design and packaging design and any other general graphic bits and bobs you might need.
I do love to make maps – hand-drawn, watercolour, 3D-style, aerial, cartoony, vector, street, you name it.
I’ve decided to gather all those pieces of work I’m happy with and put them on a website instead of stuffing them in cupboards and drawers.
It’s a plan. We’ll see how it goes.
I’m David and I’ve been doing visual stuff since I was in school – drawing caricatures of students and painting deep and meaningful murals on school property [with permission of course.]
Since then I’ve run my own business for 11 years signwriting and printing, then worked for the delightful Hunter Bevan design and marketing agency in Shropshire for a further 11 years as their Senior Designer, and now I’m a freelance Graphic Designer and Illustrator living in Mid Wales. Maybe for 11 years as well, I just don’t know.
I’ve hand-coded websites, spent late nights making photographic printing plates and running a noisy printing press, made huge murals, and immortalised the great and the good in hand-lettered gold-leaf. I’ve worked my way through Mac software from Aldus Freehand and MacPaint to Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, made animated GIFs, designed email marketing campaigns and, may Jobs forgive me, Flash websites. All good experience that I think adds to my design approach.
The things I create are usually simple, clear and concise. Style with function.
